Double skinned door repainting.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I have looked and looked at what section this should come under.
We live in a 20 year old Barret house, from new.
The font door, and back are metal skinned.
We have never done anything to them before, but I would now like to repaint the external side.
Not really being a diy-er I don't really have a clue.
When we moved in, it had a gloss finish to it, which they had only just finished painting.....and I mean two days before we moved in.
What process would I deed to do, and what paint etc.
One of the houses a bit further from us, re-painted theirs, but after a year, is has just come away.
Many thanks for any replies.
Steve.

Hi funkydad,
If the door was painted by the Barret tradesmen then you should be able to repaint it with one of the metal paints but do use a fine wire wool on the door so as to give a key.
Since it is a metal door it’s more likely to be a factory applied finish and in this case you may have to use car aerosol type paint.
Whichever you carry out experiment on a small area first like the door hinge edge
