if put up properly there should be only 4 dabs of glue on base easiest way is to get a scraper under one edge and slide. be carefull as these were often put up to hide problems with the ceiling we have done a couple where the ceilng has come in on us. best way is slow and steady keeping the scraper as flat as possible do not be tempted to get an edge up then pull rest of tile off.
hope some help nigel

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for advise, I get the keys next week and 2 of the bedrooms and the landing have these tiles on. I don't think there has been a lot done as far as decorating in the property for about twenty plus years. It's nice and clean, just stuck in a time warp. I will take your advise and fingers crossed all is sound.
Thanks again

and even after the tiles are gone the residual glue can be a b.....r to get off to give you a good surface for painting.
Cheers

Hi all,
Polystyrene tiles, off ceiling now!
As Rosebery said there is glue patches on ceiling. What is the best way to remove this?
Is it to steam so glue softens and scrape off or is it to sand it? or is there something wonderful that makes the job a piece of pish!
Any helpful advise most appreciated
