painting fitted furniture with outer covering made of paper

by jerryor » Fri Mar 21, 2008 5:05 pm

Has anyone any experience of painting over fitted, prefabricated wardrobes made of mdf and finished with a glued top covering of paper? Mine are by Sharps. The surface colour is neutral / magnolia and I'd like to change to a Fired Earth colour, Ash White.

The fitter said 'no way'. But I just wonder if there is a special primer one could apply that would not raise the paper away from the substrate leaving the predicted wrinkly surface.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.
