Hello new to diy late in life but having fun trying all these new things but have lots of time and making lots of mistakes . Anyway I'm putting a freestanding bath which has a chrome waste pipe that I have connected on to a standard 40mm plastic pipe using the compression type. trouble is it's not a great fit, although there is no water leaking i'm worried it will cause problems later. Both pipes can still turn ! Is there anything I can reinforce it with.

Thanks

It is possible to use silicone sealant around the olives which will create a watertight seal, but as you have already achieved that is it really necessary?

Compression joints are designed to accept pipes of varying diameters so therefore often don't appear to tighten as much as you might expect.

Providing the pipe is properly supported, and has been well tested, you very probably have nothing to worry about!
