Can 43mm plastic waste pipes be joined to 40mm?

by Martin#99 » Sun Jun 29, 2008 4:48 pm

Hello All,

Another frustrating day in the renewal of our en-suite!!

I've found the old waste pipe from the shower to be 43mm (as printed on the outside of the pipe). My question is whether this 43mm plastic pipe can fit to 40mm pipe using a (presumably) 40mm joint?

I ask as I can't find any large supplier (B&Q, Homebase, Wickes etc) which sells 43mm pipes.

Any thoughts very welcome!!

Ta

Martin

There are one or two odd sizes of pipe about, and solvent weld is usually larger than std 40mm.

Compression style couplings usually cope with a larger size of pipe as well as allowing for a slight variation of angle joint.
