hi,
im trying to replumb my bath waste as it was leaking,i have tried twice with new washers etc but still get a leak seems from around where the overflow joins the trap under the bath near the backnut,
can anyone guide me through the process, and should i be using sealants around all washers/joins?
thanks.

Well personally, I always use silicone on all the bath waste fittings (except the trap). I know they are designed to be fitted dry, and indeed silicone can cause the rubber seals to squeeze out when tightened, but I have had so many leak, I just do it automatically now.

There is a new (new to me anyway) bath waste that I have fitted several times recently, that has a large nut similar to that found on a basin waste and the threads must be siliconed otherwise the water will seep past.
