Can anyone tell me whether the latest clothes washing liquids and particularly dish washer tablets can re-solidify in the drain pipe thus causing a solid blockage? If so what is the answer to prevent this happening? Rgds RS

Not as far as I am aware. The only solids to block drains are limescale to some degree and the worst enemy, solidified fats.

Washing machine prodcts do cause blockages within the gully, this is caused by the powder and fibers in the clothes. Grease from washing your plates etc also cause blockages, this builds up over time.

The bast way to clear the blockages in the gully is to use a rod with the black disc plunger on, run the tap and plunge, this should clear the blockage. Check the next chamber to ensure you have not caused a blockage further down.
