Smelly house!

Hope someone can give us some guidance.
Each time we flush our upstairs toilet and occasionally when we use the sinks in the house we get a horrible smell in the kitchen and hallway. If you go out the back of the house you can also smell it there. What can we do? And if we need someone to come out how much do you think we are looking at? Many thanks

Not sure on the price, but you need to get the frains checked alot of companies now use CCTV inspection methods so shouldn't need floors etc lifting unless they find a problem.

Hi

Before you do anything expensive check
that all the sinks are trapped with a u bend under each one
and that the adaptor that
connects all the underground pipes to the sinks, toilet etc are
air tight.

hope this helps

Do you live in a new house ?

Hi

Has the smell just started.
Have you had any work done in the house prior to the smell.
Is the washing machine/dish washer in the kitchen if so make sure
the plastic u bend is attached to waste along the flix hose outlet.
Make sure every thing that is connected to your foul drainage system
is sealed trapped and air tight.

Are your floor suspended or solid concrete.

Check that the soil stack vent isn't blocked. Sounds like it might be and the flushing of the upstairs toilet is causing the water to be pulled out of the traps in the kitchen sink.

If you get someone to flush the loo while you are in the kitchen and you hear a gurgling this is possibly your problem.
