Bathroom fan

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if I have to have a fan fitted in my bathroom?
There was one originally but it packed up and had to be removed. My question is do I have to have it replaced or can I just fill in the hole and retile over it? It was on a seperate switch but we rarely switched it on as we always leave the window open (fresh air freaks).

Cheers!

we are having a few bathrooms re-done and have been told you have to have a fan AND and isolator switch on the outside of the bathroom.

You can live there without a extractor fan, however, not having a working fan does mean that your property is subject to damp and mould, not a good idea. Why not fit one and enjoy it benefits on cold nights - by all means leave the window open on the one hot day of summer - when it comes.
