Covering recessed pipework

I was updating a shower`s tiling when I uncovered the two hot & cold 22 mm copper pipes providing the supply to the Aqualisa control unit. They were recessed in channel cut into the wall and seemingly just covered by the tile adhesive. DIY articles refer to making a channel for pipes but none (I`ve read) say about any filling. Q - Do you just press plaster over and behind the pipes or do you need to wrap them in anything beforehand? Thanks.

Buried pipework should never be allowed to contact plaster. The salts will eventually corrode the pipe. Wrap the pipe in tape to protect it.

That makes sense. Many thanks Plumbob, I can get taping and plastering now - and cheer up the other half!! What a simple but helpful idea this DIY Doctor site is - thanks to contributors like yourself of course. Cheers....
