hi i have a fairly old plumbing system, in that there is no individual but off values for the taps, just the main stop cock. Nearly all my upstairs taps drip, and i want to replace the washer in them to stop it, but is the only way to cut the feed to turn off the main stop cock, and then sun the hot and cold taps till they run dry?

Hi Davsas,

Find the coldwater storage tank in the loft, in the bottom, inside, you will find one, maybe two, outlets, block these with a bung and the and the water will stop without draining down the whole system.

DO NOT LET ANYTHING GO DOWN THE HOLES ! ! !

Use bungs that you can remove afterwards, cone shaped

All the best
