Replacement shower help!!

Hi everyone, i'm new to the whole diy scene so please be gentle!.
Right, i'm replacing our en suite shower as it's broken, so i've bought a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement uses offset connectors from the water pipes. Once these are connected it leaves the pipes protruding out roughly an inch and i haven't got any room to push the pipes back in!!.
Could anyone recommend a fix for it or maybe some sort of spacer to sit on the tiles.
Thanks in advance for any answers!!
