bathroom problems

by bazlou » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:07 pm

we have a couple of issues in our bathroom, they may be connected or completely seperate problems.

the bath/shower runs horizontal to the extension wall, this used to be the rear wall of the property and is now the dividing wall between the bathroom and kitchen, there is some external damp in this wall kitchen side, but not excessive. the extension roof is flat but there doesnt seem to be any visible leaking.

1. the tiles behind the bath/shower are beginning to come loose and bubble away from the wall.

2. the cold water runs fine for about 5 mins and then trickles out then stops. this only happens in the bathroom.

we have had a new boiler fitted and is under warranty with BG.

I am concerned there may be a leak behind the tiles and this is causing both issues, i dont even know if this is possible? help please

thank you for your time

bazlou,
"the tiles behind the bath/shower are beginning to come loose and bubble away from the wall"
I think your only option is to remove the loose tiles and see what is happening behind them.
"the cold water runs fine for about 5 mins and then trickles out then stops"
If your tap is tank fed this is probably an air lock - borrow a wet vaccuum cleaner and suck on the cold tap when it's getting to a trickle.
end
