Please can someone tell me how to prevent a toilet seat from sliding. No matter how tight I fasten the retaining nuts the seat eventually loosens and then slides slightly. There must be a simple solution to my problem. The regular users of the toilet are of normal weight and size.

Use a smear of CT1 between the soft washer and the china. It is a multipurpose adhesive and sealer which I buy from my local buildbase.

Pumping some construction or silicone adhesive down the seat bolt holes ( blanket the bolts and fill the holes ) then nipping up the bolts and leaving to set, will sometimes do the trick.
Beware that it will be difficult to remove the bolts at some future date.
