Hello

I have a drain bung that is stuck in a drain that I am looking to connect to a new toilet. As seen in the image it is 5m in from the manhole and is in a drain that is 4 inches wide.

I have had engineers come around and attempt to remove it using a power flush and with rods. The problem they had with the rods was that there was a curve in the pipe which meant they didn't have a straight run at the blockage and so couldn't get their full force behind it.

I know this can be resolved through an excavation, but I wanted to know if there are any other options available to me.

Many thanks

Other than excavation you have two very, very long-shot options. Use drain rods to try and loop a lassoo rope around the thumb screw on the bung or make a hook out of a piece of steel, attach it to a rope and use the rods to try and get the hook round the back of the bung. Both have been known to work but very time consuming indeed.
