Help with Water System and Identifying what Grundfos Pump is used for

Hi,
I'm in the process of buying a 1960s bungalow that will need modernising. I am not sure what type of water system it has and was looking for some help.
There is an immersion heater in the kitchen which has a Grudnfos pump next to it. I have attached the picture of the pump.
What is the pump used for ? Is this used to pump hot water ?
