Mira Sport Max No Temp Change Low Flow Light!

I am a complete amateur and Just moved into my first property with a Mira sport max electric shower 10.8kw. Occasionally when turning it on to medium or high setting, the back lights switch off and the low flow light comes on. Water still runs but stays cold. When in low mode it functions fine (lights stay on normally & no warnings) but the water doesn't get any warmer on this setting anyway, so useless.
I have looked in the handbook and the Mira webpage and they suggest to call my water provider as it is due to low water pressure?! However my mains pressure in all taps seems completely fine, (fill a liter jug in 3 seconds and the shower is powerful working or not).
Before I bother south west water and essentially get chinned off, I thought I would research elsewhere and I seem to be getting the impression of testing the continuity of the thermal switch and other components may give me an answer, however as the problem happens randomly and remedies itself after 30 minutes too an hour so would the continuity test give me any results or is it something else?
One other confession on first moving into the house I had the shower on high and the highest heat setting and left it for about 5mins, on returning it had shut off in a similar way no heat but the overheat light was on rather than the low flow. Could have this started the problems?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
