Can’t Remove a Light Fitting to Change the Light Bulb in our Bathroom Wall Lights.

The bulbs have died in our both of our bathroom wall lights: single wall light with chrome and glass cylindar. We cannot find a way to remove the cylindar to replace the bulbs. It does not unscrew (just endlessly turns), cannot lift it off, and the chrome lid is firmly glued on.
