Adding Bathroom Window When Moving Bathroom Upstairs From Downstairs

Hi first post hello everyone.
I am in the process of putting a bathroom upstairs as the current one is downstairs.
Where the new bathroom is located there is no window. My options are sky tube for natural light or a roof window and knock through ceiling into roof space and make good the returns etc.
Question... Has anyone else done this with either a sky tube (not sure the correct name) or a roof window. Did it have the desired effect you were going for. Did you get enough light and did you come across any problems.
Thank you
