Fixing Bath and Shower Leak and Replacing Perished O-Rings and Sealant

Hi there first time poster here and complete diy novice.
Have a leak in bathroom where water is on floor after shower is used(shower is over bath). I wanted to try some basic checks myself before calling in a plumber.
I unscrewed the plug/drain to check the seal between the bath tub and the drain/waste. There were two black o rings(one above and one below). They both look worn so I want to replace them but don’t know what they are called so what to ask for at a diy/plumbing store... any ideas?
Also the below o ring seemed to have previously been secured with sealant or putty, but the sealant/putty had perished so when I unscrewed the plug, the o ring and perished sealant/putty fell off and are now somewhere under the bath.
I haven’t yet take the bath panel off because I wanted to try replacing these seals first, but I’m not sure if I can do that without the bath panel being removed now(because I can’t see how the underneath o ring seal was positioned and fixed.
Apologies for how confusing this probably sounds but any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
