Power Shower Problems With Pump not Starting

Hi
My power shower pump stopped working a couple of weeks ago previously it had worked fine for 7 years without problem, we had a boiler/ en-suite change 4 months ago the shower fed by the pump is in the en-suite, we did have a new shower block fitted at this time, initially I went to check the filters on the pump however the gate valve which isolated the pump kept spinning this was the hot supply to the shower pump from the boiler via a ******* valve/flange?
Called my plumber, he came viewed the job felt the pump was u/s.
Made arrangements for him to come back in a week to fit new pump and ball valves.
I purchased a 2 bar pump from Wickes, the plumber came and fitted this also he changed the valves.
The plumber advised the shower was running ok when he’d finished, when I tried it nothing, the plumber then put his vacuum over the shower head for a few seconds the shower then worked. At that the plumber left Saying it would be ok.
Since however the shower doesn’t always start, I either switch the electrical supply to the pump off/on and or lower the shower head hose/ turn the temperature control on the mixer valve to get the pump to start.
The plumbers asked me to contact the pump supplier?
He doesn’t feel the issue is his, I’m not saying it’s his fault either but it’s my shower not working
Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem would be welcomed.
Thanks
