Problem Damp Patch Around Soil Pipe

Hi, we were having work done on the house that stopped due to the lockdown. In that time we noticed a damp patch around our soil pipe (see picture). The pipe itself is dry so we don’t know if it’s damp from the ground of if there’s a leak underneath. Any ideas or any suggestions of who we should contact once the lockdown is done I.e. a plumber or builder? Thanks in advance

Hi tadek,
I would be highly suspicious of the 1 1/2 pipe join above the damp area. Run water down this pipe and see if it leaks.

Hi Stoneyboy,
You are right to be suspicious of that (it was my handy work to get an operational washing machine during lockdown) but weirdly, it's not the culprit after testing it. I'm surprised and a little disappointed as this would be an easier fix I feel!
Thanks for responding.

Hi tadek,
In that case it looks like the pipe is buried in the ground so there may well be damp because it is below DPM level.
