removing a downstairs loo

Hi
I'm considering removing a downstairs loo in order to use the space for another purpose. What should I consider when capping the soil pipe? The stack continues on upstairs and is therefore vented, can I just cap the downstairs branch pipe so it is completely sealed i.e. airtight?

Many thanks.

yes you can providing you dont get any materials lodged in to the main pipe and the pipe is still vented i wouls cut out a circular peice of wood the same a s the inside diameter lodge it in and us concrete or maybe expanding foam
