Which thread locker to use?

Hello,

I have a new integrated shower installed with tiles going over the top of the containing wall in the next few days. When it is all complete, I need to screw the shower fixings into the sockets. One of the new shower fittings is plastic and the socket is brass - my question is which thread locker to use?

With the shape of the socket, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to screw it in really tight, so I really need to work out which thread locker to use instead of PTFE. I've done some research and it seems the usual Loctite will happily do metal-metal, and some people have suggested using plain old superglue for the metal-plastic thread, but I've also read that it doesn't do well with water over time?

What would people recommend?

Thanks very much!

Hi jamesgs01
The only product I have found works is the good old ptfe tape. Perhaps others can suggest an alternative.

Will PTFE still work if it’s not done up really tight?

I kind of assumed it wouldn’t but on reflection I’ve no idea why!

Hi jamesgs01
You just need to wrap enough ptfe round the thread so it is really stiff to insert, it does not need to be tightened down.
