Trying to find replacement shower arm

I removed my current shower arm which has 4 screws securing it to the wall. This pipe is 120mm with no thread it just pushed into the current arm. I wish to replace the arm but cannot find anything that fits. Is the pipe shown in the picture meant to unscrew?

Thanks in advance

Hi pip10
Suggest you try removing the plastic collar to expose whatever is underneath. Grip the plastic and turn clockwise (as you look at the end) to minimise the risk of undoing a joint which may be deep in the wall.

Sorry for the delay, thanks. I have managed to un glue that collar but cannot get it off the pipe, if we turn it, it stays same place and it try and pull it off it feels like pulling the pipe with it

Thanks again for the help!

Hi pip10
You could try cutting along the plastic parallel with the pipe and outwards across the collar. You don’t need to cut all the way through, just enough so you can split the plastic with a screwdriver.

If you find a replacement shower arm you will need that projecting piece of 15mm copper pipe. Many modern arms are a push fit onto the copper with the seal being achieved by an o ring that is internal to the arm and external to the copper projection.

Thank you. Are you able to post a link to an example? I have been struggling to find one with a push on attachment. Thanks

Hi,
Sorry for the delay but my lady in charge has had me go directly from one bathroom to the next! I have taken a snap of a shower arm in one of ours that uses the same arrangement. (I’ll post it up here for you when I solve some of the expensive looking problems I have found...)
What I do know is that if you pull that copper pipe out from whatever joint is buried in the wall you are probably going to be involved in removing the tile (or tiles) to get at the joint and enter a fun world of grief.

Morning Pip,
Sorry mate but my lady creates whenever I ‘waste time’ by trying to sort out how to easily post images. In any event I located several arms on Amazon and eBay that look as though they would be suitable. Unfortunately none go into the fine detail of how they mount on the the wall and couple with the existing plumbing. If it were me this is an instance where I would want to physically examine the replacement to ensure suitability and compatibility before purchasing. Shop local!
