I've been doing some work in the loft and noticed an ingress of water around the plumbing vent pipe. As you can see it looks like it hase been leaking for some time. I don't know the history of the pipe but the bottom edge of the cement section looks like it has been cut so I'm guessing the copper pipe isn't original.
What to do? Simply seal the fit between the cement section and copper? Seems too easy! The vent pipe exits at the apex of the roof and is covered by a ridge vent. I would have expected this to prevent too much water ingress but there are traces of water even after light rain, so perhaps this points to something (or something else?) which needs attention from above.
Cheers,
Jon.
