Help with cleaning or changing my thermostatic valve to solve cold supply issue

Hi all,

This is my shower tap: https://www.grupponobili.it/en/servizio/ricerca-prodotto/?cod=WE00102%2FT

Since some days ago, I lost the cold water in my shower. Hot water works just fine. When I turn the temperature valve to cold (or in the middle), I get just a little bit of cold water into the mix. The result is an extremely hot bath or almost no water.

It's actually weird. When I first turn the shower on, I get cold water, but after 2 or 3 seconds, it comes down to a few drops.

You can see the problem here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mamqhb4sg7xmj2w/problem.mp4?dl=0

All the other taps in my house have cold and hot water (including the bathroom sink tap), just this one of the shower has this problem. The whole system is quite new with 1.5 years since the installation.

I was told that maybe I could clean or replace the thermostatic valve. I tried to remove it myself (how hard could it be, right?) and now I'm stuck.

I went as far as here:

valve1 (Small).jpeg

The problem is, I can't remove the cartridge. I tried to unscrew it, but it just rotates and nothing happens. See it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/etda85jay1eww ... e.mp4?dl=0

So before applying brutal force to pull it out, I would like to ask you guys: Am I missing any other part I need to remove before pulling out the cartridge? Do I need a special tool for that?

Thanks in advance.

Hi fastbond
Have you tried unscrewing the valve by a lot more turns - why do you stop after 1 turn?

Hi stoneyboy,

I did maybe 200 times :)
It rotates but never moves.
I tried to pull it out, but it doesn't move either. I'm afraid to break the thing if I put too much pressure.

Hi fastbond
Have you already removed the retaining nut which was holding the cartridge in place?
