Leaking low level, close coupled push button toilet flush

I have a low level, close coupled toilet with push button flush. I replaced the flushing unit and the inlet valve since it was constantly dribbling into the toilet causing the cistern to refill every few minutes. It is still happening with the new unit! I noticed that there was a "slider" on the unit with 5 positions (1-5) and it was at position 5. I don't know what this does but could this be the problem?

Hi aleconnor
The issue with your old flush unit was most likely to be a deformed/worn washer s]at the bottom of the flush plunger or debris stopping a proper seal being made.
If the new unit has been fitted correctly the only way water can be running into the pan is if the cistern is filling too much and overflowing through the flush unit. Try adjusting the fill valve.
The slider is to control the volume of the flush.

Hi Stoneyboy,
Thanks for that prompt reply. At a quick glance it doesn't seem to be overfilling but it will be a couple of days before I can have a good look. I'll let you know!

Hi aleconner,
Thanks for responding, there is always the possibility that you new flush unit is faulty. When water is running in the pan try pushing down the central plunger - if it stops the bottom seal is faulty.

Hi Stoneyboy,
All sorted. I took the flush unit off, cleaned the surfaces and fitted a new washer. Everything working OK.
Thanks for your input and regards.
