Does the union need to go all the way into a towel radiator?

by handy_tel » Fri Jun 17, 2022 10:35 pm

I had to change the heater element on my towel rail. Unfortunately it's about 1/2 mm wider than the old one and is being prevented from going in by the union connection. If I let out the union by a small amount it allows the element to fit as normal. But the first time I did this, it leaked. Any suggestions please?

Hi handy_tel,
If you are slackening a threaded union remove it completely, apply ptfe tape and refit.
