Routing drainage pipe to soil stack?

by kristeva » Sun Sep 04, 2022 7:32 pm

Hi all, I'm currently in the middle of a bathroom overhaul and I need to run 50mm drainage from my basin to a soil pipe. The pipe will exit the wall roughly here on the photo and I was just wondering how you guys would run it from there to the soil pipe? Its probably a stupid question, I ask because its already quite close proximity to the soil pipe and the gas boiler outlet is partially blocking the run beneath. And of course I want to keep building control happy. Should I just run straight down and into a 90 joint / boss strap? Cheers. K

Hi kristeva
Preferably bring it out of the wall 3 brick courses higher and go into a boss strap round the soil pipe.
Or, bring it out where shown and use 2x 90 deg bends to get it into the boss on the T.

To route a drainage pipe to a soil stack, start by digging a trench from the pipe's source point to the soil stack. Then, lay down perforated pipes so that they are at least 6 inches beneath the ground surface. Afterward, fill in the space around the pipes with gravel or pebbles before covering them with a layer of geotextile fabric. Finally, add another layer of earth and pack it firmly around the pipe before connecting it to your soil stack.
