I am proposing to build an extension to my kitchen. my idea is to build it in timber frame. after an initial investigation i realise there is a waste or drainage pipe running under the intended foundations. how could i remedy this? is there a way of building over the pipe without removing it? & how would we do it? would be grateful for some help

I'm not a builder but all I can think of is - installing a lintel over the drain.

All drainage work to a new contruction, or any aletrations to existing underground drainage are governed by building regulations and you must get permission to proceed. You may not live in the house forever and any future owner has the right to know where the drains go in case of a collapse or blockage. Please talk to the building control officer of your local council and see the foundations project in the DIY projects section of this web site.
