Earth bonding at gas meter

by Lee the novice » Tue Apr 24, 2007 8:36 am

Hi all,

I have a contract for the house with BG. On their inspection they say the earth bonding is on the wrong side of the gas meter (it was on the pipe that went into the ground). On asking him he said it should be between the meter and the house and be within 600mm of the meter.

I bought a new earth strap and moved the original earth wire to the house side of the meter, it's before any joints and within 600mm.

Is this correct???

sounds ok , but make sure it is 10mm earth wire and make sure the contact surface of pipe to clip is clean . Also remember you shouldn't be doing it . Naughty naughty. Regards Jeff. PS get a qualified leckie to check all bonding its important to save your life
