can i replace a 1g1w switch with a 2g1w using same wires?

OK....here goes.
Our main light is 1g1way. 1red/common 1black/L1 and earth to back box as normal.
We have 2 wall lights which were originally wired off the ring main (don't ask!) which I am trying to wire to the existing wall switch.
My problem is I extended the red and black to the second switch to give power to the 2 gang switch, and then wired the second switch as normal, but now I've got a disco!!! Both lights on, but when you dim one the other brightens, and vice versa!
Is there anyway to use the 1way wiring to extend to the second switch on the 2g plate to make it work without the disco effect?
I'll try to do this in pictures to make it easier to understand....
Main light:-
red - Common
black - L1
earth - back box--------------------All to be replaced by:-
2Gang switch for main and wall lights using existing t&e cable:-
switch 1 = red - common (and a loop to common on 2nd switch)
switch 1 = black - L1 (and loop across to L1 as above)
Switch2 for wall lights only:-
red -common (and the loop back to sw1)
black - L1 (as above)
I hope that makes sense to someone.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Eddie.
