COLEBOURN
HI i will try to help.
I had my part p visit last year in aug 07 and passed
with NICEIC.
I ,VE got 2nd one in sept 08.
THE area engineer will be looking for compliances
with the regulations and will also be lookin
out for any NON compliances
compliance with bs 7671 ( A 2381 16TH ED CERT OR 2382 17TH ED CERTwill be asked for)
BS7671 : 2001 16 ED / OR BS7671 : 2008 17TH ED book
WILL need to be shown
AS U KNOW bs7671 2008 came out in jan 08 and was
appliable from july1st 2008 . u would obviously have informed
NICEIC which regs ( 16th or 17th ) u want to be assessed on

BS7671 , part p , and building
regs will be required and questions of compliance
in the 2 sumbitted jobs will b asked 4 .
Showing of appropiate qualifications for the
electrotechnical industry will be asked 4 . ( i did 236 part
1,2, and 3 ).
A complete understanding of INSPECTION AND
TESTING OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS will
be expected.
If u have a 2391 CITY AND GUILDS IN INSPECTION
AND TESTING , to submit like i did , then this will be a
good start to show competence at testing .
part 7 of bs7671 2001 , pages 169-176 or pages
155 - 163 , part 6 of bs 7671 : 2008 , list
the sequence of tests required and instruments used.
u could b asked to do any test on any instrument
to show compliance.
U could be asked questions on the books and
documents needed for the visit.
questions on, memorundum of electricity at work
act , on site guide 16 th ed , guidance notes 1,3 and
7 , part p regulations booklet from ODPM , Health
and safety policy , complaints proceedure ,calibration
records of intruments , copies of electrical installation
certificates , filled in correctly , and able to explain
results and describe interpretation of results from
jobs submitted.
Public liability insurance cert for inspection and
apropiate tools and equipment for your work will be
asked about.
Finally on my assessment , the health and safety
aspect was required , with live and dead testing
and the ability to show competence was throughly
tested , proving units , and avoidance of dangers
that electricity can create , being repeatedly
asked . conversance with guidance note 3
will prepare u for any questions the area engineer
might want 2 know
COLBOURN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck on your visit , any more questions
before just ask. let me know how u get on
WILL B HOPING U GET THROUGH.
