Hi there,
I have a bathroom pull cord that I would like to change to a flush mounted PIR. However on pulling down the existing pull core I find three wires - two of which are in one terminal and the other on its own.
The colour of the cables are all the same too - red with green on them - the house is approx 30 years old.
How do I identify which is live and which is neutral so that I can connect up the PIR?
Thank you in advance.
Sounds like u have the one red as the switch wire ( live )
that probaly goes to the bathroom light.
The other two reds r probaly live feeds in and out of the
switch.
I do not think that u have a neutral at the switch , because
of the age of the wiring and method used ( 2 lives 1 in and
1 out and a switch wire ).
ONE would have to rewire a format where a neutral
connection could be provided .
I would advise to consult an electrcian on this , and
at the same time talk over issues of wiring age and
any part obligations that u may b liable 2 .
