I recently got an electrician to give me a qoute on the installation of a cookerhood.

He said the best way to install it would be to tap into the wiring for the socket nearby and then run a cable from there to the hood.

I was just wondering if this is the best way of having the cookerhood installed?

You give no measurements but I would think "No" is correct answer.
1) Must follow save zones.
2) Junction boxes must be available for inspection.
I will also point out.
a) Will now require RCD protection.
b) It comes under Part P
Because of heat I would consider ali-tube cable.

I live in Ireland so part P wouldn't apply.
Would it still be the incorrect way of wiring it up?
The reason I decided to post a question about it was because he seemed alittle dodgy, and just wanted to know if the way he was saying to wire it up was correct.

I am told Ireland uses the same red book as us and BS 7671:2008 or 17th Edition still applies but the legal enforcement may be different.
