sockets not working

Apart from 1 socket in the front room and one directly above it in the front bedroom none of my power sockets work. This has just happened.
We have a new consumer unit and nothing is tripping. I dont know what circuit these 2 sockets are on as they can only be switched off by the main switch in the consumer unit.
We did fit a new socket running off an existing socket and it worked fine as did all the sockets, but having just got back to the house after being away, none apart from 2 now work.
Disconnecting the new socket hasnt made any difference.
Can I ask -if one socket doesnt work will it effect all the others?
Thanks so much

Sorry to say not really something I can help with but I do wonder about those two sockets. I think only way is to get an electrician to call.

Get back whoever fitted the consumer unit to check it over. If the only way of turning the power off is by the main fuseboard switch then there is a wiring problem.

Did a proffesional electrician fit it??
