Monitoring electric usage

Don't know if this is the right forum for this question but here goes. A friend is using my garage, for up to 12 months, to store and use his hobby engineering workshop. This, I haven't a problem with, as long as he pays for his power usage. Is there any way of monitoring his usage, so that he pays for what he uses.

Hi, you could have a private check meter fitted they cost around £25 but if garage is detached from house can only legally be fitted by a registered electrician so with cost of meter plus fitting it may not be worth it unless he starts to use electric heater.
Google emetco to see types of meter available ie 'read and calculate your self' , coin or card etc.
may be cheaper if he's only going to use light, occassional model lathe, and drill to agree a sum per month say £5, depends how good a friend he is...
