I’m having a problem too with ceiling light fitting. The new lamp has the following connections Blue and Black and no earth !, The rose ball has three main wire connectors first has three slots = 1 black and the middle has three slots = two red wires and the final one has two slots and one black wire.

i've tried and i get the light to go on but the switch will not turn it off. Can anyone help me wife's bending my ears HELP .

Try connecting the new light to the two connectors with the single wires - not to the one with the two red wires.

If you haven't changed anything in the ceiling rose then connect the light wires to the two end connectors on the rose like Sb says. It sounds as though you have one connection in one end and the other in the middle section.

reason your light is on all the time is because you've connected the live on the lamp to the permanent live feed (the reds) you need to connect to the switch wire, follow the directions above. the only proviso to this is that if the new fitting is an eddison screw you must identify the switch live and connect this to the centre connection of the lamp (Live). the switch live is usually, but sadly not always, identified by a red or brown sleeving or tape over the black wire.
