Dimmer Switch

Hi all
A fuse in my fuse box went off the other day. One of my downlights was causing the problem. At closer inspection, I found that the connecter (plastic) connecting the mains to the transformer had melted. Also, the transofrmer had blown.
I replaced the connecter as well as the transformer and switched on the lights. The lights went on and everything looked fine but I realised that the dimmer switch did not dim the lights anymore. They simply went on and off. Did the surge blow the dimmer? Do I need to place the dimmer? and if so what is the wattage that I need. Below is what I currently have:
4 downlights. Each 50W 12V
4 dais DA-E60 Dimmable Transformers (12volt TRANSFORMER FOR DOWN LIGHTS 60w/VA)
1 Dimmer switch
Thx
