Please I need some sanity...
Today I replaced a normal switch with a dimmer switch, and at the same time replaced a normal light fitting with a new one..(dinnig room light)

When I tried it, it all seemed to be working normal until I turned on the next light in the loop, (under stairs light). When I turned this on both lights went to half brightness. When I turned the dimmer up the dinning room lights up bright and the stairs go dark, and vice versa??

Has anyone got any ideas please.......

Hi, you have made the usual mistake when changing the light over of mixing up the switch wire with the permanent lives, never easy to sort out,but 'Projects' wiring a light may help.
