Wiring 3 single pole switches into A 3 GANG BOX

by cindy » Sat Apr 18, 2009 5:16 pm

I CURRENTLY HAVE AN OLD SINGLE GANG BOX WITH 3 DESPARD SWITCHES. THE TWO OUTER SWITCHES HAVE A RED AND BLACK WIRE AND THE MIDLE SWITCH HAS A BLUE WIRE ONLY. THERE IS A JUMPER WIRE FROM EACH OUTER SWITCH TO THE MIDDLE SWITCH. I WANT TO CHANGE THIS TO A 3 GANG BOX WITH 3 ROCKER SWITCHES. CAN I DO THIS. THERE ARE SEVERAL WHITE WIRES ALL WIRED TOGETHER WITH A WIRE NUT.

White wires/wire nut!
explain more are these yor earths connected to a metal back box they should be green and yellow.
As far as the rest of it is concerned mark the wires up write down the way they are configurated to the switches ie com L1 L2 one way two way connections.
Then replace it and wire back as before.
