Hi all

I'm instaling mounting boxes in my first home and would like to know what the 'norm' is in these cases--

I've got a pack of 25mm deep metal mounting boxes and have started creating the recesses in plaster, however, the pplaster isn't deep enough in a lot of cases and im down to brick and i'm still protruding 5-10mm out or so. I'm having a plasterer make the surface good -- will he be able to make up the difference or do i need to use my bolster to go deeper into the brick?

thanks for any help,

You need to go deeper.
Try using a scutch chisel, it has small pointed changeable blades and is easier to chase brickwork with, as the points apply more force to an area.

No he can't make up the difference if he's just patching which is what your post implies. Even if he was skimming the whole wall thats an awfull lot of plaster to go up. Unless you wanr him to plaster over the skirting boards as well!

Dig deeper - a lot deeper!

Cheers
