spots in living room

Hello all, simple Q really. Is there a way of putting in spotlights without lifting the boards in the room above ? and not pulling the cieling down.

Simple mmmh!
The only other way is to cut out holes in the ceiling to feed cables along the void using a mini cable pull or fish wire.
You make suitable size holes so you can feed cable along the void, this will only work if no obstructions in void like debris(rubble left up there), brick/block work, noggins and joist as you will need to hole them to continue your run. There could also be pipe work up there, which will also creates a problems if they carry hot water as this could melt insullation on cable if routed close to them, they should be kept apart. At least 300mm.

Ps if this new circuit or in special locations such as bathroom, kitchen or in a outbuilding. It will need to comply not only to BS7671:2008 but part P of building regs (see part p on projects pages) So it will then become notifiable to building controls or should be installed by a Registered electrician.
