i have just bought a new zannusi cooker, have wired it in and the grill and oven part work fine, however none of the top hob rings will switch on. Not sure how this could be as surely if cooker was not wired correctly then grill and oven would not work either?? is it possible i have wired it incorrectly or does it sound like a faulty cooker?

I know it's a daft question!
have you looked at the installation manual? A lot of cookers come with seperate hobs and therefore are terminated seperate. model type would be nice to have, maybe able to find out a little more.
