I have gold recessed ball downlights in my bathroom and I want to change the lights. The problem is that they have cut out a huge hole for them and I am having great difficultly finding new ones that require such a large cut out. I dont want to have to plaster and fill ceiling etc..

Just wondering if you can paint these types of lights? If so is there any specific paint that i should be using? I want them to be silver rather than gold.

Thanks for any help

Haven't seen anything that works very well. They do sell converter's rings for down lighters that are a bit like a polo mint ring with a small cut out to take a low voltage light. Link to a 140mm converter.

if halogens then the heat could be an issue. the wrong type of paint could catch fire. i don't think that painting them is a very good idea, personally.

agreed, you'll struggle to get anything close to a decent finish
