Might be a simple one but is it feasible to run two lamps off one plug and still keep the switches for both??

Explain, not sure what you mean. I hope your not intending to wire two flexes in to on plug top?

sorry about the delay, she has me on many other jobs!
with the lamps. . . we've two bed side lamps, only small, each with a switch half way down the flex as you'd expect.
My question is, can i wire them to a terminal box and run the pair off one plug?

yes but use a proper enclosed connector not just a connector strip (no not even if you tape over it!).
Plenty on the market, sold for under cabinet lighting ect. some plug together, if using this type ensure 'plug' half goes to lamps 'socket' half to mains so if unplugged no live pins!!

Have you considered just buying a 4-way extension?!
About £1.50 in Tesco and a lot less hassle!
