Plug sockets behind fridge/washing machine - not allowed??

Hi all,

Sorry if a bit of a stupid question but need some advice.

I'm in the process of selling my flat and the buyer has had an electrical inspection and reckons there's a lot of work needed, for which they want us to pay for.

One item of the works required is "To supply and fix 2no spurs for appliance sockets" and this is because there is no access to the fridge and washing machine sockets (the socket is at floor level behind the fridge).

Is it a legal requirement to have all sockets accessible as I can't see why this work needs to be done (and at £180 plus VAT!).

Thanks

When was the installtion of the cable done in this area? there is a requirment regarding isolations of fixed intergrated appliances.
So we need to know if these appliance are intergrated and when the wiring was done? If the wiring was installed pre-requirement ,you do not need to update any of your electrical installation, providing the installation is safe.
