Hi, I've just moved home and have had a few problems with the RCD tripping, the consumer unit is a split load type which I suspect was installed by the previous owner who was a competent DIY'er but not an electrician, I guess he did this prior to the regs being tightned. I've had a quick look and the neutrals are not crossed or anything else obvious but just about everything seems to be RCD protected, the busbar is split but I can see only one breaker on the unprotected side which I think is to the alarm. I'm sure this is not correct. Can someone tell me which circuits are normaly RCD protected and which otherwise?

Hi lights not on RCD, fixed appliances such as immersion not on RCD
Cooker if no socket outlet on plate not on RCD.
All circuits 'likely to be used to supply portable appliances out of doors' ie down stairs sockets should be on RCD, if changing remember N for circuits on RCD 1/2 must be on the RCD N. bar only.

Thanks Sparx, I knew the lights had to be wrong but I wasn't sure about the rest.
