Fixing strip lights to prefabricated roof trusses

I want to put up strip lights in the garage. The obvious way is to screw to the underside of the joists but it's a new house with prefabricated roof trusses which I know should not be messed with. I'm thinking of nailing angle plates to the trusses on which to mount cross pieces which will then carry the lights. I'm thinking 3.75mm x 30mm sherardised square twist nails.
Grateful for any guidance.

if there isnt a light already there then you can not undertake this , as you have no certification to do such a thing under regulations , please call an apporved electrician

There are strip lights in the garage already - I want to relocate them. But thanks for the reminder for those who don't know about the regs. I'm guessing that there is probably no problem about nailing into trusses - everyone seems to but no drilling for screws.

I don't think there is a problem with the trusses, the problem is fixing the lights to a combustable surface. I did this in my parents loft recently and had to hang the lights on short lengths of chain to comply with the manufacturers instructions.
there is also the matter of Part P as moger 4 says
